It’s survival, it’s a human need. And when it comes to staple foods, atta (wheat flour) tops the list. Whether it’s a chef or a home cook, atta is an essential when it comes to the household. Now when it comes to wheat flour, the process is simple — grind the whole wheat grain into a fine structure. However, that’s not it.

Chakki atta is not just a process, but rather a tradition when it comes to India and the deeply-rooted culture. Chakki is a traditional hand stone mill comprising of a pair of two flat stones which are used for grinding grains. The pair of stones is connected with a rod that is used to grind.
